DroneXL profiles Vermeer's case to the Pentagon that long-range strike drones become liabilities the moment they meet a competent jammer. CEO Brian Streem told the New York Post that Vermeer's roughly $20K camera-and-AI kit lets a $50K Shahed-class drone fly without GPS by matching electro-optical/IR camera feeds against a stored 3D terrain map on an Nvidia edge processor. The system is now split into three products — VPS (terrain matching), Celestial (star fixes for high-altitude / featureless flight), and Terminal Guidance — with evasive maneuvers in development. Customer/partner list now includes the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, AeroVironment, Firestorm, and Ukrainian drone maker Skyeton. Coverage frames Vermeer against the War Department's Drone Dominance "Gauntlet" program (25 vendors, $150M Phase 1) where Fort Benning evaluations ran Feb 18–early March 2026 and prototype orders followed.
